ABOUT the BLOG

Why the Friday Cyclotouriste?

Well…when I first started the blog my work schedule effectively made Thursday and Friday my week-end. Thursdays were for catching up on things like grocery shopping, laundry, and sleep. So that left Friday as the perfect day for a ride. This work schedule is no more, but the name stuck.

The blog is partly a ploy to make sure I get out on the bicycle as often as possible. Beyond that the idea is to share lots of photographs and to ladle in occasional observations about bicycle gear, cyclotourism, bike culture, and practical stuff (including lots of maps) should you want to explore this terrain on your own. I sometimes make off topic postings, but try not to do that too frequently.

There is also a geotag icon below most photographs on the site. It looks like this:

Click on these links to see the location of the photograph on a google map (where you can zoom in or out, look and move around).

The photos and map locations can also be seen on the blog’s Global Map, which is accessed from one of the tabs that run across the top of the site and from the globe in the sidebar.

Thanks so much for stopping by The Friday Cyclotouriste!

I hope you enjoy the site.

Have you written a post about your camera setup? I’d really like to learn more about what you are using, and your technique, as your photos are beautiful!
