On the Road……Video descent: Sabino Canyon pathway

with 2 comments

I recently came across this little movie (made in 2011-12 when I was living and bicycling in Tucson, AZ).  This was my second crude attempt at shooting video from a moving bicycle. My first attempt can be seen here.

The music is from the eclectic French musician Manu Chao. Here’s his official website.

The setting is Sabino Canyon — an incredible little jewel in NW Tucson replete with waterfalls and riparian ecosystems.  The paved walking and biking pathway ends 4-5 miles up the canyon at which point there are only unpaved, steep switchback trails leading into the wild Santa Catalina mountains.

Here’s a link to all my Sabino Canyon posts.

  1. very cool. Maybe a helmet mounted cam would take some of the shaky out of it. Also, it seemed sped up, except when you stopped to check out the girl on the bridge (nice touch), or avoid pedestrians, but then it looked slower. DId you change up the playback speed?

  2. steve/ thanks for checking out the vid! yes, i played around with the speed (to affect the mood) but also to limit the length. Running at normal speed it would have dragged on far too long! Not sure about the helmet cam. Seems that might introduce even more movement, albeit not as much shakiness.
