Brompton folded in hard shell case

Folded Brompton

I vowed my next bike would be a folding bike. A planned short trip to Minneapolis proved to be the trigger.

I narrowed it down and compared two very different bikes: The Dahon Mu Uno and a 3-speed Brompton M type.

I plan to have more notes and photos on the comparison and which one I ultimately chose and why. (Although these images of the Brompton packed for airline travel are a giveaway.)

  1. Exciting. I purchased a Raleigh “20” this spring in advance of a trip to Florida but didn’t have time to work out it’s kinks before the trip. This seems like a great set of traveling wheels.

  2. I think the Brompton was the right choice. It sure does pack down nice and tight.

  3. Nasty bit of machinery, it’ll have you travelling to far away places just so you can ride it there and take lots of wonderful photos.Nice bag, did it come with the Brommie ?

  4. dave/ travelling with a bike is definitely full of potential kinks. this seemed the most seamless.

myles/ i was amazed how tight it packed down. that turned out to be the most important factor for me.

llewellyn/ yes, the bag was purchased with the brommie in mind, but manufactured by a third party. it’s a perfect fit.

  5. Nice looking case and great size. Can you tell us where we can get one / who makes it?
